Raise your hand if you never made fun of Michael Jackson.
Thought so.
Accusations of being homosexual and a child molester, his addiction to plastic surgeries, black/white condition, low-pitched voice, and the plastic nose has made him the target of musicians, movie makers, DJs and fans alike- making the King of Pop look like a clown prince. The running gag is he was born a black man but died a white woman.
Ever since the days of Thriller, his persona has taken a downhill turn. Of course, everyone is odd in their own way, but MJ was an oddball among oddballs. I am sure there are people more weird then him, but his celebrity status blew everything up (not out of proportions).
People rarely consider the fact that he had been under public scrutiny wherever he went and whatever he did for 45 of his 50 year life. He had been denied childhood and freedom for all his life (or so he claimed), which might have contributed to this weirdness, but the reasons are not as important as yet another catchy tabloid heading. Celebrities are like sausages, you might not want to know how one was made. Wacko Jacko, he was called.

Despite the face structure, hair, and lips, this not a woman
Anyways, I wonder what will happen to all the satires about Michael now. Just hours before the highly anticipated Bruno was released in the US, and hours after MJ’s death, a scene involving LaToya Jackson was cut from the movie – but of course it is a sensitive issue right now. But it makes me think- was it okay to make fun of MJ while he was alive?
It’s funny how the world works. People get all mushy when the subject of MJ comes up, even though they (along with me) used to make fun of Jackson’s pedophilia. People starts joining Michael Jackson fan pages and groups left, right and center on social networks, and some, like my friend, who never heard a MJ song before, downloads half his discography and becomes a “die-hard fan”.
To me, he was always a creep.
Maybe because as a musician, he was before my time. He was in my time more as a side joke, someone that over half the stoner comedies or spoof movies would make the butt of every joke.
Will people stop making jokes about Jackson(s) later? I don’t think so. If history is any indication, the little oddities of Elvis Presley are still made fun off in many, many movies and other media. Michael Jackson, in comparison, is a much bigger fish.
